Visa moved USDC prefunding for cross-border payouts through Visa Direct into commercial production on Oct. 15, with Inyo Global as its first enabler, the company said in its announcement. The launch brings the capability beyond pilot programs and gives eligible businesses on Inyo’s platform another way to fund payouts.
How does the USDC funding work?
Inyo has integrated the option into its platform, allowing businesses it serves to prefund Visa Direct payouts with USDC in near real time, according to Visa. The feature runs through the same Inyo APIs clients already use and is available around the clock, Inyo co-founder Robson Dantas said in Visa’s announcement.
Inyo’s platform supports money transmitters, fintechs, banks and payment companies. Visa says it supports domestic and international payouts across more than 180 countries, though availability of the new USDC option is subject to eligibility and geography.
Who can use the service?
Eligible Visa Direct clients and partners using Inyo can access the funding option, Visa said. The Block’s report noted that the USDC is used to fund the payment business’s cross-border payouts; the announcement does not say recipients must receive USDC.
Visa introduced stablecoin prefunding and payout pilots through Visa Direct in 2025. Prefunding concerns how a business supplies funds for payments, while a payout describes how money is delivered to a recipient.
What comes next for Visa Direct’s stablecoin service?
Visa said it is working with clients and partners to bring stablecoin-enabled capabilities to additional money movement use cases. It did not give a timeline for further launches or name additional enablers in the announcement.
The current rollout is limited by eligibility and geographic availability requirements, Visa said. The company has not specified which markets or clients can use the service first.
