Schroders takes emerging-market bond fund to Solana

Centrifuge announced on Nov. 4 that it had launched Schroders’ Emerging Market Bond strategy on Solana, bringing tokenized exposure to sovereign and corporate emerging-market debt to the network. The Centrifuge announcement names the product as the Schroder International Selection Fund Emerging Market Bond and says Solana is its initial network.

What does the Solana launch offer?

The fund provides tokenized exposure to Schroders’ existing emerging-market bond strategy, according to Centrifuge. The announcement describes the move as Schroders’ first deployment on Solana; it does not say the fund itself is newly created.

Schroders has invested in emerging-market debt for more than 50 years and has more than 40 dedicated investment professionals in the asset class, Centrifuge said. Its capabilities span sovereign, corporate and local-currency strategies.

How do Schroders, Centrifuge and Solana fit together?

Schroders manages the investment strategy, Centrifuge provides the tokenization infrastructure and Solana is the blockchain on which the tokenized fund initially launches, according to the announcement. Schroders’ Marita McGinley, head of operations for APAC and digital assets, said the firm was tokenizing the strategy and issuing it on Solana.

Centrifuge said Solana’s onchain real-world-asset market held more than $4 billion in value at the time of the announcement. The company said tokenized strategies could be used as building blocks for vaults, collateral and financial applications, but did not name any specific integrations for this fund.

What access details are confirmed?

The announcement confirms the fund and its initial network, but does not provide a token contract address, subscription process, investor eligibility rules or redemption terms. It also does not confirm that any particular vault or lending application has begun using the fund.

Centrifuge said the product initially launches on Solana. Its announcement did not set out a date for any expansion to other networks or give further details on investor access.
