JPMorgan brings JPM Coin to Ethereum for institutional clients

JPMorgan made its JPM Coin deposit token available to institutional clients on Ethereum on Oct. 19, adding another public network for round-the-clock dollar transfers, according to Bloomberg Law’s report on the launch.

JPM Coin represents US dollar deposits held at the bank. JPMorgan previously launched the token on Base, an Ethereum layer-2 network, in November 2025; clients can send and receive it in seconds, around the clock, Bloomberg reported.

What can institutions do with JPM Coin on Ethereum?

Approved institutional participants can use the token for blockchain payments, trade settlement and collateral, according to Cointelegraph’s report, citing JPMorgan. The bank’s spokesperson said the token has been technically deployed on Ethereum mainnet.

JPMorgan’s Emma Landriault, global head of Kinexys Labs, said crypto companies could use JPM Coin for blockchain payments, while financial institutions could use it to settle trades and post collateral. The token remains limited to approved institutional participants despite being issued on public networks, Cointelegraph reported.

Why add Ethereum after Base?

Landriault said JPMorgan selected Ethereum for its liquidity and existing use among clients. The move extends JPM Coin beyond Base, which JPMorgan brought into production in November 2025, and gives institutional clients access to the token on a second network.

JPMorgan has not disclosed how many clients are using the Ethereum deployment or published transaction volumes for it. The bank has said it plans to support additional public blockchains; the timing and details of any further network launches remain unconfirmed.
