Coinbase adds Ripple’s RLUSD across three platforms

Coinbase added Ripple USD (RLUSD) to Coinbase Exchange, its retail app and Coinbase Prime on Oct. 28, giving retail and institutional customers in supported regions access to the dollar stablecoin. Coinbase’s announcement says customers can trade and manage RLUSD on all three platforms.

Which networks and conversions does Coinbase support?

Customers can deposit and withdraw RLUSD on the XRP Ledger, Base and Ethereum, Coinbase said. The exchange also offers conversion from U.S. dollars at a 1:1 rate.

Ripple said customers can also convert other supported dollar-denominated stablecoins into RLUSD at 1:1. The two companies said Coinbase Global Exchange customers will get access later, including the ability to use RLUSD as collateral.

What does the listing add for Ripple?

The listing puts RLUSD on Coinbase’s retail and institutional services, extending its availability across trading and custody channels. Reuters reported that RLUSD launched in December 2024 and cited CoinGecko data showing its market capitalization above $2.5 billion on Oct. 28.

Ripple said it will provide liquidity on Base to support RLUSD use there. Coinbase described the token as another dollar-denominated option for customers using its platform.

What happens next for Coinbase Global Exchange?

Coinbase said support for Coinbase Global Exchange customers, including use of RLUSD as collateral, will follow, but it did not give a date. The company’s announcement says current availability is limited to supported regions; it did not specify those regions in the post.
